Back to University: Haul - Part 2

Part 2 of my Back to Uni Haul! 

This part is full of Notebooks and files!

From Paperchase is the Midsummer large wiro journal. It retails at £8. 

The design on the front is super adorable. It has a background of what looks like vintage materials and then has an overlay of photos of butterflies, birds, flowers and lace. The butterflies have a shiny film overlay. It is a hardback notebook and first page has an ink splats and cherry print and then the pages are lined and are an off white cream colour.

The next notebook is again from Paperchase but was bought for £5.45 a little while ago and it doesn't seem to be on the website. 

It is of A4 size and has a plastic cover held together with a rubber band closing. The cover is clear with coloured flowers. The flower colours are Tiffany Blue, Orange, Red, Pink, Green, Purple and Yellow. The paper is quite thick and strong and will not show the ink on the other side. Good quality paper is what I look for in a suitable notebook.

From Accessorize, I got two notebooks in the Summer sale. 

The first, a cardboard backed notebooks with a mix of prints on the front including flamingos, an elephant and florals. It has an elastic band closure and the pages are quite thick but you can see print of text on the opposite side. It isn't quite A5 as it is a little larger. I got this for around £4 (I think!)

The next, I got two of these, they are a plastic covered notebook with a vintage mix print including a union jack heart, bunting and butterflies. It has an elastic band closure and the inside pages are printed with a sparrow on the bottom right page with "tweet tweet" and musical notes and on the top left of the opposite page there is a blue butterfly. The pages are quite thick but again you can see a print of the text on the opposite side which is a slight let down. I bought two of these books because they were around £4 each in the sale from Accessorize.

The next notebook I got whilst in York in May this year. 

(I am going back in October so keep your eyes peeled for a haul!)

It is from the largely popular store, Jack Wills. It retails at £5 and you can now get a different design (see here) for the same price!

The notebook is quite small for the price but it is the brand name you are paying for and is okay if you just looking for something small to remember your visit. The book has a card front and back cover and has a Union Jack background with pink letters spelling out WILLS emblazoned across the middle. There is a elastic band closure and the biggest let down was the fact that the inside pages are squared rather than lined. I use the book as a handbag to do list book.

From WHSmith, I picked up this notebook from the Songbird range which you can find here. (unfortunately the notebook does not seem to be on the website but I bought it in store about 2 weeks ago). It was around £5.99.

It is a hardback notebook with a Tiffany blue background with gold, pink and teal accents in the form of birds and swirl designs. It has an elastic band closure and the inside pages are an off white cream colour. They are thick but you can see the text forms on the back.

From Clinton's which is generally a card shop but it stocks the Me to You gift range also. I found in their clearance this notebook on half prince down from £3.99 to £1.99. 

The cover is a thin card with a photograph of a Me to You bear from the Photo Finish range. It has a lovely pink background with my favourite flower, the pink gerbera. The pages have a similar photo on the bottom right hand page and this is a grey colour rather than in colour print.

The last notebook is from WHSmith and I got this on clearance. It was reduced to £2.45.

 It is a project notebook meaning alongside the lined paper there is dividers to organise your notes. The paper inside is of good quality. The cover has a black and white check design on it and a hot pink elastic band closure. The dividers are pink also.

Next, is a file organiser. It is a fantastic concept I think. I got this one from WHSmith on sale for £3.99. It has a stripe design and is a hard back with a elastic band closure. 

There are four metal rings which open to sort out the file inside and remove, add and move the pages inside. There is a contents page for each of the five sections. The dividers are plastic and are blue and green coloured. The paper inside is of fabulous quality and there is space to add more when needed. I think this will be fantastic when I start putting together my dissertation!

The final thing (hallelujah!) is a folder from WHSmith's: Winnie the Pooh range. It is an A4 file which costs £3.79. Get it here!

The folder is a lovely brown paper bag colour and has a lovely little quote which says "Some friends are smaller than others" which I personally thought was super cute because, well I am a petite girl! The file has two metal rings and the inside has a map of the 100 acre wood (the setting for Winnie the Pooh).

Back to University: Haul

Hi there!

I have recently started back at Newcastle College on the Ba Honours Children and Young Persons (top up) course and I wanted to share with you some stationary items I have bought recently.

It is a slight collective haul as some of the things were purchased within the summer sales back in August so I apologise if you cannot get your hands on them any more.

Before I jump into it there is a slight warning. There are a lot of pictures and it's a big haul!

First off I went into Accessorize, which is part of the Monsoon store, and I picked up the Book of Notes from the Portobello range. (click here)
It is full of post it notes / sticky notes (whichever you prefer!) in all different sizes. There are really useful ones that say 'today', 'later', 'urgent' and 'don't forget', which you can put into diaries or onto a notice board. I loved the colours and the prints on the post it notes and I love the fact that they come in a little book so you can take them to College/Uni easily in your bag!

It retails for £6 which I think is a bargain for aaaaall of these post it's!

Next, I got  heart shaped paper clips, again from Accessorize, and they are from the Portobello range also. I got this picture from the website because I had a picture when they were in the packaging but I don't know  what happened to that and now they're in my paper clip tin! :(

They are super cute and come in a gorgeous hot pink and Tiffany blue colour, however on the website they are noted as green! They are very sturdy and made of metal and will last for ages!

They retail for £2.50 which is a great price for a lot of really cute paperclips!

Carrying on with stuff from Accessorize, I got Animal Rubbers which are cute little rubbers in the shape of a panda and a giraffe!

For some reason, Panda's seem to be a theme in this haul!

The rubbers are really tiny and once out of the packaging, they start to fall apart because they are small individual rubbers put together to look like the animals. This, for me, makes them a little difficult to store.

They retail for £1.25 which for the size and everything is pretty good!

Finally, from Accessorize, I got a Panda Calculator which for some odd reason I cannot find on the Accessorize website or Ebay.

It retailed for £6 (I think!) and it's cute as hell! I looked in 3 different Accessorize stores within Eldon Square and Metrocentre to try and find it and ended up ordering it online when there was a Free Delivery promotion!

It is the perfect size to fit into the palm of your hand and the buttons are rubberised to stop slipping. If in the pictures your wondering, "where is the screen for the calculator?" you would be right, however the right hand paw pushes into the Panda body and released the head to swing around and reveal the screen!

I thought this was such an amazing feature and added to the overall fun and cuteness!

The next item I got was from Disney Store in Metrocentre, I got these on Saturday 15th so there might still be some left! They were originally £4, then reduced to £2.80, then £1.10! Bargain!

They are post it notes from the "Mickey Mouse Comic" collection and they're super cute. They have a watermarked background which means although they have text printed onto the surface you can actually write over the top and you will be able to see your writing! You get a lot of post it's in three different styles so there is a lot for your money here!

Next, from Poundland, I got some Spongebob Squarepants post it notes (I know, I love Post It's!)

For £1 you got 60 post it notes in three different designs. I have used these for all sorts so far, my favourite being marking pages in magazines of things I like. They add so much fun and colour to notebooks and make leaving notes that much more fun!

Whilst in Paperchase, Eldon Square, I picked up some really cute and fun essentials! The first being Panda Highlighters! (I did mention that there was a Panda theme!) They retail for £3 which I think for 5 highlighters is a bargain! You get a yellow, blue, green, pink and orange. They come in a little see through zip lock bag with a sticker on it, which you could take off and give someone a present in it!

From Paperchase, again, I got some "Sticky Notes" which were on sale I believe for £1.25.

You can find very similar ones here for £2.25 so even if you can't get them on sale, your still getting some for a good price!

They come in a little zip lock bag, similar to the highlighters, which is good if they're on a desk in case there are any spillages!

The pattern I got is very floral and nature themed which I love and the colours are muted so they're not too bright, which may put some people off the work. You get four sets of page tabs and one set of square post it's.

Next, something a little bit boring...Erasers or Rubbers (in the UK!)

These are from Paperchase and they were £1.50 for a pack of 6 neon erasers. I love the bright neon colours and the shape is easy to hold and control. The eraser is of good quality and wont fall apart when you are rubbing out on the page.

The next eraser retails for £1 and it is just a plain brand marked oval eraser.

It is strong and sturdy and I thought to just put in my pencil case and use on the go it will be perfect. I'm not a massive fan of the branding emblazoned on the eraser but I guess companies need to advertise!

A couple more "boring" things before some more fun-ness! 

From Wilkinsons, I got the Stabilo Boss Original 4 Colour Highlighters for £2.50.

In the pack you get green, pink, yellow and orange highlighters which are a nice shape and size for holding comfortably within your hand. I like the Stabilo brand because the colours are vibrant and they don't dry out quickly! These ones will last a good few years! I plan to keep these on my desk for at home note taking.

The next highlighters, also from Wilkinsons, are the Stabilo Flash Highlighters which retail for £2.45.

They are smaller than the Boss highlighters and they come in yellow, green, blue and pink which are different colours. They are easy to fit in a pencil case and have a 1mm/3.5mm nib for precise highlighting. They have "anti-dry out technology" which means these should last for a long while.

The next thing I got is from WHSmith and it is a fold up ruler retailing at £1.10. Some people think this might be really sad and pointless but I think that it's really cute and fun. It is a lovely sheer pink colour and is by the brand Helix. They made the rulers that my old High School used so is quite nostalgic. The size is pretty perfect because when it is folded it stays in shape via a click lock process and fits within a pencil case easily. It has the CM and MM measurements which is a standard ruler here in the UK and is 30cm long.

It is not available on the WHSmith website which is a shame but you can look in store and see if they have it in.

The final item in this segment is a pencil case from Wilkinsons. It is a plain pink fabric pencil case with see through plastic front and the best part is the folder holes so it can fit into your file! The holes are circular metal holes so the fabric won't tear. It is the perfect size to fit into my A4 files and it can fit everything I need to take to Uni with me.

From ASDA, I got a note card set, file and dividers all for around £1. I can't find this online so check out your local ASDA to see if they have it in. When I was in store there was an Orange or a Blue, I chose the Orange. It is a plastic sort of material with a popper opening. Then inside is two metal opening rings which allow you to remove, add and move the cards and dividers around. I think this will be super useful for exam revision or in my case, remembering theorists and philosophers!

Online I purchased this 5star "things to do today" book. It was £3.70 from penNpaper (on amazon.co.uk)

I first discovered the brand 5star when I was working at a recruitment business and found the stationary to be of very high quality and wanted to know if I could get these for home. I researched and found that you can buy in bulk from Amazon.

The book is really useful because it's broken into three sections over two pages. "Appointments", "Notes" and "Things To Do Today". The front cover is a little bland and I might DIY it. (Leave a comment below if you'd like to see this!)

Stila Cosmetics: £1

Hello! 

Today I paid a small visit to one of my favourite shops ever. Poundland. This is a shop where everything is £1! I love it because you can get some amazing steals and you just cannot believe it's £1. 

Today I went in and browsed the beauty section which is my first stop on every visit! On this occasion I found one of the best bargains I have ever come across in Poundland. Stila Cosmetics. 

Until recently, when the company started to stock in Boots, it was hard to find Stila unless it was Christmas time in the UK. I managed to get my hand on two amazing products which I know I will get some great use out of. 

First, is the Stila spf30 Oil Free Sheer Cover Tinted Moisturiser which I got in shade Bare (Light 2) 

I have tried this out and it is very easy to apply has quite a thick consistency for a Tinted Moisturiser but blends out really well and a little goes a long, long way. On your skin it feels airy and light and doesn't really feel like there is anything on your skin. The colour is a perfect match for me and I am going to try and get some more!

The final product I got was the Stila 4 Pan Compact which is a sleek and simple design emblazoned with the Stila logo. I think this will be brilliant when I fill it with some eyeshadows and will be so easy to take away if I stay out for a night. 

I could not find the RRP prices online for these products so I am unsure whether they have been discontinued or not.

Avon Haul

My Avon order arrived! YAY! 

I've been waiting absolutely ages for this order because it was the first order I actually sat down and thought, right what can I get which will be useful for my blog.

The first item I ordered was the Advanced Techniques 360 Nourishment Moroccan Argan Oil: Leave in Treatment.

 This is a 30ml product which is suitable for all hair types and cost £2.99. 

The bottle says, "This exotic blend containing rare Moroccan argan oil absorbs instantly, infusing hair with moisture and shine."

I got this because I thought it would be fun to try because my hair is pretty dry and damaged and also there is still a lot of hype about hair oils! 

My first impressions of this product is that it smells good. It has a scent which I know to be consistent with other Advanced Techniques hair oils and the consistency is quite thick but still runny and after placing some onto my hand it has left my hand quite soft! The packaging is glass making it very sturdy and expensive looking and there is a pump making access to the product quick and simple!

I'll let you know how I get on, but first, have you tried any hair oils?

Next, I got the Advanced Techniques 360 Nourishment Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo and the Conditioner to go with it. Each contain 250ml's of product and cost £1.50 each. These however were on special opening prices will vary depending on which brochure you are ordering from!

The shampoo bottle states: "This gentle shampoo helps to transform dry hair and leaves it feeling moisturised...Instantly detangles leaving hair soft, smooth and silky." 

The conditioner states: "This hydrating conditioner helps to transform dry hair, locking in moisture from root to tip...Deeply conditions and leaves hair noticeably more beautiful and manageable."  

My first impressions of these are that the smell is very nice and consistent with that of other Advanced Techniques Shampoo's and Conditioners, the packaging is simple and again is consistent with other products however the colouring differs with different types.

Finally, I ordered the Solutions Hydra Beyond: Hydrating Eye Cream. You get 15ml's of product and costs £3 but again this depends on the brochure you order from as prices vary from brochure to brochure with Avon. 

"This lightly fragranced eye cream is formulated with Sea Oak complex to help leave skin around your eye area with a hydrated feeling that lasts all day. Skin looks and feels dramatically replenished."

My first impressions of this product is very positive and I love the easy access packaging with a nozzle to get out a small amount at a time.
